Welcome to the Minnesota State Fair. Let's start with the food as that is the biggest reason we are here. First is a Corn Dog and drink. Yummy...
Then, but not pictured, we had a chocolate cream puff :) the newest item was chocolate dipped bacon which was too greasy for me and was served cold. The chocolate was okay. Cookies and milk, we split a huge burger, shared a twist cone (aka) chocolate/vanilla together, and to have later at home; salt water taffy in the flavor of black walnut, chocolate and banana and toasted cinnamon almonds....Yes we were a little piggy.

The Midway has the rides, which we didn't go on. We enjoy people watching and walking around the fair grounds. They still have the "side show" ....
We were at the fair for 6+ hours and took a few sit down breaks. There were SO many people there and it was humid and hot. I'm SURE I didn't gain any weight because of ALL the walking we did. We saw little piglets being born..cute.It was our "mini vacation".
This is my "summer mantle" above, and today while cleaning, I just HAD to get out some of my Fall decorations. Not all of them, just enough for a nice change. The big gourds on the end of the mantle, garage sale this week for 50 cents each. You can't see the middle candle very well. It has those colored plastic marble around the inside base and looks much better in person. The pictures are vintage. One is a scene of the "Harvest Moon " it's very interesting and the other is dead birds from a hunt..I know, dead birds :( but it isn't bloody and is really cool. These really cool angels are from a garage sale. 1.00 for the pair and they are awesome. They are pretty big and hang on the wall.

Also found some kitchen towels, another cheese ball tray to be made "shabby" and the pretty blue pillow for the guest bedroom, blue napkins for 1.00 for 4 and I don't think they were used,
cigar boxes to "alter" for a craft show that I am going to sell my cards and altered paper goods at in October.Tomorrow is Sunday and I'd better go to church...Obedience Have a blessed Sunday and thanks for visiting. It's always fun to talk with you gals. :) Warmly, Deb

I love chocolate...but on bacon? I don't think I would even try it.
It was in the 90's today but they are saying 60's by Wednesday. I might have to start getting out my fall decor too!
I love the look of your mantle. Mine has pictures hanging above it, so it never gets decortated.
Have a wonderful day

Aww, you look great in blond pigtails! It's a look!!! ;)

I'm ready for Autumn, too! Trouble is, it always feels like such a short season to me - kinda like Spring. My two favorite seasons! But you blink and they're gone!

Well you have inspired me to get out some of my fall things and make my home "warm and cozy" now that it is starting to cool off (in the evening at least) and fall is definitely my favorite time of year. Love those angels, I am a cherub freak....can never find enough of them for my shabby chic room.

Lots of love,

Debbie Kay

What other reason is there for going to the fair? Food is it!
I love both your mantles, very pretty.
Loved your tea towels. Those are always great to find. I always think about the women who stitched them.
Have a great Sunday! Twyla

I love chocolate but I don't think bacon dipped chocolate sounds good at all. Every year they try to add more and more strange things. Here they fry everything! Fried snickers, fried twinkies. Strange.

You found some great things! Love the blue pillow and napkins.

Your mantle made me want to get my fall things out. But I'm trying to hold off a little while longer.

Hi Deb!
Oh I love the thought of being at a huge Fair...miss the one we always attended when I was younger and the food was sooooooooo good...scones with dripping butter and raspberry jam! YUM...
You also did well on your weekly thrifting/garage sales! WOW
Thanks for your sweet comments on my roses! If you'd like some to purchase I'd be happy to do that for you...just tell the color and how many you'd like and I'll make ya a good deal! lol

Have a great Sunday! Lorena

Hi Deb; thanks for visiting; the puppies are all doing well; Our Bitsy apparently has a small; thank goodness; allergy to fly bites ( at least that is what I think it is) we give her a Benadryl and it goes away, but in the meantime she looks like Mike Tyson! LOL! Poor baby! I think chocolate bacon is a hoot! I always say I would probably eat a bug if it was deep fried! Add chocoloate to it and its a definite!LOL; Hey, I love the cheese ball platter; I just bought one at a thrift store that looks a lot like it, except the flowers are pink and purple pansies! Great minds think alike; I hope you entered those contests; I always say that if I can't win, I hope it is someone I know! See you again soon; Merrie

Hi Deb. Thanks for sharing this. Our fair is in September and is always so much fun. Love the hot dogs for sure.
Have a beautiful week!

Corn dogs are the best, especially from the fair. I too have done my mantel for fall, it's getting to be that time.

Hi Deb!
Your mantle looks great! I'm starting to feel inspired for fall to come and the change of decorations.
The angels you found are awesome and only $1.00 ?? Wow! Great find! I found a covered cheese tray this summer too at a yard sale. I'm wanting to paint the tray part and display things in it. Such a cute look.

Love the angels.
Ever since I saw the first 'painted' cheeseball tray I have been looking. Of course, NOW I never see them anywhere. Before they were a dime a dozen. :-D
Do you have a pic of what you do with the cigar boxes?
