How MUCH for that Library Book ???!!!

It's been 4 years since we went to Hawaii for 10 days. Hubby did this on the beach of Waikiki in Honolulu. We had 6 days in Maui and then 4 days here. It was so awesome and I would love to go again. :) On Maui we saw the whales come in the morning and go out and night. I really should have taken a boat trip to see the whales. No one else wanted to go...we went with another if I go again...FOR SURE I'm going out and see the whales... Remember this book??? The one Jackson Brown thought he needed to shred???'s mine now and cost me.....$25.00 bucks....the price on the book is $14.95....I "talked" with the library lady and she won't's a "popular book" so that is how they come up with a price...UGH...and I offered to buy a replacement book and she said they WOULDN'T ACCEPT it!!! Are you kidding me... some system. I had to pay the "fine" otherwise I couldn't check out any more books...
Oh...look who had to "help" me put clean sheets on the bed.... I know...I can't stay mad at this cute little guy... :)

I picked up my check at HQ today and was disappointed...less than $200.00, however it's more than I had yesterday and it needs to last until the next sale. This is my "pin" money that I use to buy more stuff with and my little "girlie" stuff. You know, treasures and stuff. I am thankful that I have it and bet next month will be better.
Kailee's daddy was laid off of his job on Monday :( WOW... this affects my daughter and Kailee. If you want to say a prayer for him to find a job, great. I know there are a few of you that have husbands who are also in this situation...We must stay strong and Believe. God will provide and He is Faithful to those who believe...
Saw an estate sale for Saturday... another "digger" sale and hubby is all excited about going!! We love to dig for treasures. I think we have enough treasures here to sell, but hubby says you have to "spend money to make money".... hum !!!!
I hope you all have a good weekend. The month is flying by and it's trying to warm up here. I have a surprise up my sleeve for next month...keep an eye out in's one of my favorite months!!!

You have one special man.Mine hates sales and rummage and flea markets he will not stop for. I love it all.

I feel this real sense of unfairness that you should have been able to replace the book and that they should not be able to charge you more than the replacement cost. I tend to be a rabble rouser and might call the mayor and ask him if he thinks that is fair.

Have a Thankful Thursday

I would have given her a new book and said take it or leave it! and that would have been that!

My husband loves to go to yard sales with me, but I think I'm going to cut back this summer, we've got too much clutter and don't trust myself when I see a good deal. Wow, Hawaii sounds great.

That's crazy, you having to pay extra for book damage; they should accept a new book and consider it a fair exchange! It's not like you offered them a shoddy one that you found alongside the road. I'm with Raggedy - I'd have to file a complaint!

I know ALL about some library fines. $100 later, I could have bought the books!!
Cute dog!! And I am so jealous your husband likes to actually go treasure hunting with you!!

That happened to me one time with a library book and it was a 50.00 and they wouldn't even budge on the price and I work
My dog knocked a glass of iced tea all over a hot wheels collectible

Well that is just wrong about the library making you pay more for the book then if you bought it new. What's up with that!

That's so sad about your grand daughters daddy getting laid off. My BIL did too last week. It's so scary these days. I never thought we would be living in times like these.

I've always loved the 40's and felt it was such a romantic time in history but now that we are sort of living like back then...its not so romantic is it.

hey, what's that I see up your sleeve?

I can not believe they are charging you more than the book is worth. That is not fair. Prayers on the way for your family, I know jobs are hard to find right now. I hope you find tons of treasures at your estate sale, wish I could go dig with you : )

LOL I can SO relate to this posting! This morning the AC guy cane to do the spring maintenance so I had to put all 3 dogs, yes I said 3, in our bedroom. We have a Cocker and 2 Bostons. The younger Boston we think was saved from a puppy mill so she does not have the same personality as the older Boston. She chewed up my walking shoes! Needless to say I was not happy this morning. AC maintenance was $340.00 and shoes were aroung $80.00. There goes my ebay $$ from last weekend. :(

Hope you have a great weekend!
Sorry for the long message!

Aaaawwww's one of my very favorite places on earth!

Man oh man does that library have a scam going on don't they!? And the bad part is that there is nothing that you can do about it.

Have fun at the "digger" sale. Hope you find lots of treasures.

I'll be thinking about and saying a prayer for your family and the unemployment issue. This bad economic crisis has affected so many families.

P.S. I've been sooo bad lately...did I tell you thank you for my sweet valentine you sent me. I sure hope so! It was so very appreciated!

Just Love your names in the sand... I hope you can go back someday and see the whales up close... I totally Love Beaches!

Of course, I think the entire Library thing is wicked, horrid, rotten to the core... I would not pay it, and then I'd write a letter to the Local Paper and send copies to the Library, Mayor, Town Office, President of the USA, etc... Does that express how displeased I am with how they're "handling" this situation?? Shame on them. tsk, tsk, tsk...

My heart sank when I read about Kailee's Daddy and his job... things just keep getting worse and it's becoming quite depressing... I am praying for you and your family... That is all I know to do anymore ~hugs~

Hope that the thrifting 'n digging go well this weekend, and that you have some Fun! Also, just love that photo of JB helping you make the bed... What an innocent face! LOL... Do take care, my sweet friend...
God bless...

~hugs 'n prayers~

I have an overdue book sitting right here and I am a bit worried about the fine as I couldn't find the book for weeks. Somehow it ended up in my closet.

I know what you mean about your pen money. I hate it when my take from the shop is less then 200. I think this months take isn't going to be much and that means no new Shiny things for me.

Hi Deb,
It was good to hear from you! Your blog is so cute and springy! It sounds like life is good for you. I will definitely be praying for the job situation. And on the bright side, at least you didn't go in the hole this month...I've had a few of those kind of months. Happy Spring! Blessings, Victoria Lynn

Hi there...I just popped over from Tootsie Time and am enjoying your blog. The header is precious with all the Spring Things. AND...your puppies are precious too.

I share you love of the library because it's such a great way to read so many books and not have to buy them. That's CRAZY about the price of the book.

I'll be back to check on you.

Wanna know something weird? You were the only person who could see my egg tutorial today. I posted it this morning and it never came up on anyone blog roll. I removed the new widget I had added and now it's working fine. I wonder who it is that you could see it?

Yes indeed, God will provide, and He is faithful! Thanks for the reminder.

Your little doggie is so cute, it is difficult to be mad at him. Can you believe those "library rules"? Makes no sense to me???

Stay Cozy, Carrie

p.s. have fun at your sale this weekend!

They are so "crabby" and unbudging on library books! I've never understood why you can't replace a book. Things happen!

Well have a great weekend!

Love your sugar bowl find!

I am praying for Kalie's dad, hope he finds a job soon, seems to be the sign of the times being laid off.

Hi Deb,
Oh I didn't like the news about your son losing his job. It is happening to a lot of people.

Sorry about the book charge.

Yes let's remember to pray for one another!!!

Oh Bummer that you had to pay that much for that book, Gosh, I don't see why she wouldn't accept the replacement one that you were willing to get, that don't sound fair...Jackson Brown is so cute, it would be hard to stay mad at him! LOL!
Those sales you and hubby went to....the digger ones' sound like our cup of tea! Fun Fun! Your hubby sounds alot like mine.
What a sweet heart your hubby is writting your names in the sand....lucky you getting to go to Hawaii too. I bet that trip holds alot of special memories for you both. Girl, I've only seen Hawaii on tv, thank goodness for the travel channel! LOL! I know seeing places on tv can't compare with being there. I'll talk to you again soon!
Big Hug,

I don't know who to feel worse for you or Jackson Brown! I had prayed that they would work with you but Librarians have ZERO TOLERANCE (rolling my eyes) what are they going to do with your money? Buy another stupid book right? Makes me so mad. The same thing happen to me when I borrowed a book on party planning many years ago. A little bitty book...I accidently left it in another state when I visited family, so I went to pay for it and it was $39.00 plus late fees. I offered to buy another one and bring it in...they said No way...maybe all that quiet time has an adverse effect on their people skills...guess I need to add them to my prayer list! You guys are already on there!
Love Lilly
