Weekend Treasures and a Little Story

Sweet cards from the estate sale...

Garage sale finds above :)

Estate finds...

Estate finds...sweet bag of buttons :)

Green shelf is estate find which brings me to the little story. This shelf is from an house where the woman who lived there was a hoarder. A HUGE hoarder...before the estate sale the bank who now owns the house filled NINE dumpster of stuff before the sale. The house was still PACKED!!! We talked to the estate people who shared the story of the house. They found 2 dead cats, one in the freezer along with 7 frozen turkeys...this woman also had a bedroom FULL of shoes...they believe over 1,000 pairs. The garage was filled with BOOKS...and the house had an awful odor to it!!!
It's a reminder...it's not about THINGS...it's about the people you LOVE. This poor woman was alone with her Things....
It was a nice weekend...the weather today, AWESOME!!! Hubby was busy showing houses, except for today, we had some time for US!!! We went to the antique store and added things to our booth and "tweaked" it. I'll show you pics later. Tomorrow I'll finish getting my room ready for the sale that starts on Thursday at How Quaint.
Warmly,
Deb :)

You sure did score this weekend, that story is really creepy, life is very short and yes all the things cannot replace the love ones around us. Hugs, Diane

Great finds Deb. Terrible story though about the poor lady who was a hoarder. I'm still shocked whenever I see stories like that. My weekend was great as well. I did manage to go to a few of the sales in Anoka but didn't find anything at those. Stuff they had wasn't really my kinda stuff if you know what I mean. I did find a couple of cute things though at one of the other antique shops that I'll be sharing sometime this week. Have a great week!! Kim

I always enjoy the story behind a piece that I pick, but that one is just plain sad.

It's always so sad to hear that someone lives like that. But you sure found some great things! I especially like all of the birds, and that sweet little deer!

Hi Sis ~ oh, how sad about that poor lady. She obviously felt closer to her things than to any people.

You really found some great treasures...you're very good at that!!!

Hi Deb
*lol* I don't know what happened either so I came back to check and deleted a few of them..*grinning*.
Yes I do sell my soy votives and tealights although I haven't placed them on my etsy...yet.
The bridal shower favours were an order. The purchaser wanted to spend $5.00 per person so thats what I put together for her.
Fun...
have a great evening. I hope you only get one copy of this one.

Thank you for your prayers regarding my mom. She had the "cement" procedure done today. It looks good so far. Time will tell.
I always enjoy looking at all your delightful finds. The Mary Engelbreit containers below are SO FUN!!!

Can you imagine living like this lady did? So sad.

Guess there was some positive out of her hoarding- look at the goodies you found!

Oh no way! You got the best stuff! No one here gets rid of good stuff any more! I love your pic in your header! The puppy figurine is the best! I am starting a collection!! It is sad when you only have things. And her poor cats. I have WAY too much stuff but I don't keep trash and food and I do clean up. I do try to not be a hoarder but I think I am one step away!
Hugs, Lisa

yes, like the other blogger's comments said, that really is sad...to have collected all that overdose of treasures sounded like there was a void of lonliness that she was desperately trying to fill.

must have been a super sale to be at though! great treasure hunting!
