My Christmas Tree, Swap and Win

This past week I purchased a "fake" tree....it's pretty nice and full with the lights already on it!
Hubby and I have cut our own tree for years. Trying to save time this year...It looks better in my house than on the photo... I'm not thrilled with it...it will do for awhile. I haven't had a tree in this spot before...usually in the corner. That is now where the Indian cabinet is. You can see it from the dining room and living room. I always have white lights on mine. I have vintage ornaments, tinsel and faux poinsettia's this year.

These two photos are the swap gifts that I received from Debby at http://cozyblanket.blogspot.com She had a Christmas swap and you could send a decorated cigar box or jar. We both did cigar boxes. I just sent mine to her yesterday. Thank you, Debby for the fun Christmas swap :)

I won this very pretty tea set from Deb at http://debsanestingplace.blogspot.com aka A Fine Feathered Nest. Along with the rose bowls and rose scoop. The tea set is sweet and petite. Thank you, Deb. It's just so darling!

I'll be showing you my mantle and other little Christmas decor after the sale at HQ...I'm also making my Christmas cards. I may get them put together this weekend! I also made a couple easy little gifts and will show them too! Can you say "busy" :)
Hubby and I went to a couple estate sales and I'll show you the treasures that I "bought" later this week too! It was a nice "digger" sale. Lots of linens, vintage greeting cards, hankies, glass ware and MORE!!! I didn't go overboard!!! I have a few Christmas gifts to buy! I do have my Granddaughter all done...except for the few stocking stuffers!
Guess I'll get back to putting together my cards!
Warmly,
deb :)

I've had to go with a faux tree now for several years. I've come to enjoy the ease of set up and clean up. Yours looks really pretty. You are a busy girl!!

My husband and I started out with real trees, then switched to faux about 10 years ago. Last year we switched back to the real thing. I missed "Going Out" to pick the perfect tree for us. We just got our yesterday and it is gorgeous...perfect size and shape for our livingroom. Now if I can jujst remember to water it!

Your tree is SO pretty ! I love the tinsel. I have never used that before, but it looks SO pretty on your tree, I may have to try it :) We have had faux trees now for the last three years, It is so easy, but there is nothing like the smell of a fresh one :) You were spoiled by your swap partner !! Lots of yummyness !!! Have a great week sweet girl. I am STILL not done with your angel, sheesh !! Lol !! But I have those on my list for tomorrow and Monday, so I hope to get it done. Would you rather she have a blue dress and a pink rose ? Let me know, Hugs :) :)

I love your tree. We have had a few real ones and some articial ones. The last couple of years I put a few small trees in my antique wagon. I will post a picture when I get home and finish them.
Funny about all these Deb's.
I will be so excited when I get home to see what has arrived.

Your tree is lovely! I love the old-fashioned look of the tinsel! You sound like you are getting into the spirit of the holiday! We set our tree up tonight, but haven't decorated it at all...soon, I hope! Your swap goodies and giveaway win look wonderful...so fun to get goodies in the mail! XO

When we first moved here and finally had room for a tree, some 20 years ago, the three of us went to a tree farm. It was a drizzly day, cold & wet. I thought I found the perfect tree...so I said Amy you stay with this one, I'm going to look some more. Then I had hubby stand at another one, and I'm going to look at some more. Then I moved Amy to another one, and I moved hubby to another one...

On the way home that day, with one of the 10 perfect trees that I found, Amy and hubby said they'd never go for a real tree again :(

We've had a faux tree ever since!!!

HUGS...

We have a faux tree here too. The only time we didn't have one was when we lived in California.....no room to store a fake one after the holidays!
I think your tree looks beautiful.
Can't wait to see what you found at the estate sales.

I went Faux about 20 years ago and have never looked back. I followed all of the "tried and true" ways to keep a tree fresh only to have the needles dropping off by day 5. It seemed as if you could walk by the tree from a distance of 5 feet and they were dropping. I went with an all silver theme this year. So Happy with it. The crowning touch....literally a crown. My daughter's high school Snowball Queen crown. I sent her a picture and she thinks it is pretty neat.

Your busy, but not to busy for an estate sale! I have had a fake tree for years, but it is almost a sin in Minnesota! I went one worse...a white, fake tree!!!LOL How did you come out with your covert hanky project?

Hi Deb:

I was so happy to read your comment, we kind of lost track of each other!! I love having a fake tree, no messy pine needles to vacuum up. I think yours looks very pretty.

Deb! I think your tree is beautiful! A click to enlarge the photo shows your ornaments off wonderfully. Deb, I don't know what to say to thank you enough for your special package to me. It quite overwhelmed me. You are so very kind, and I hope to one day repay you in kind. I will be sure and share your lovely cards with our crafting community! Thank you again. Elizabeth
