Digger's Sale

What is a digger's sale???? It's a Packed estate sale! Things are still in boxes, everywhere...
Sometimes the house is DIRTY or Dusty...sometimes worse!!!
You have to LOOK EVERYWHERE....High and Low....
crawling into tight, dark spaces....these houses are almost "hoarder" homes. Actually, I think they are...
Up and down, behind, under, above...beware...you also may find dead mice, which we have!!! Hubby just had to "show" me the dead mouse! That is a "boy" thing! I also bring "hand wipes".
It's the sales we LOVE!!! Found all these goodies at the Digger Sale! We were up at 5:07 AM on Saturday morning to get "pre-numbers". This is usually from the first person at the sale. Sometimes these folks spend the night inside their car to be number ONE!!! This was the case with this sale.

The estate company gives out "their" number at 8:00AM...so, YES, we wait in our car until 8:00 AM and exchange our "Pre-number" for the estate Number, which is the same unless someone leaves before 8:00 AM. The SALE starts at 9:00 AM...so after we get the "real" number, OFF we run to get a bite to eat and "potty"... This Is SERIOUS business!! Not for the "weak" at heart!

YES, I'm a little "crazy" !!! YES, it's all about the HUNT of finding TREASURES!!!

Warmly,

deb :)

It sounds like fun but I am not so sure I have that much heart or that much patience. You did find some treasure.

Without a doubt I would also use sanitizing wipes but I would keep a mask handy too.

That is some hardcore "junkin". :)

Very serious stuff. I need to go to one early in the day sometime. I usually wait until the crowds slow down.

Hi Deb, love all your digger junk, but I'ld have to call them treasures. Looks like it was worth it. You need to open up a little online shop.

Oh Deb, lets call it a to die for sale....I would love that! the buttons, cake picks, hat, linens. Waiting hours to get in.....You are a die hard. If I lived there I would have you do all of the pre work and then I would stroll up at 9am and have you hand me the number LOL. Actually I have a friend that pays people to wait in line for him.

Oh my goodness that sounds like so much fun and you found so many fun treasures. Yep, it's all about the thrill of the hunt! You just never know what you'll find!

Dear Deb,
WOWZER....I have never heard of a Digger Sale...What do they do...is it priced when you take it to the cash register...We have Nottinghams Estate sales in our town and they would never allow a sale like that...they spend sometimes a month getting a big estate in order going through every box themselves and then it is set up in the home of the estate owners like it was an antique store....People wait in line for hours to get in...I know you have been and your place is like that....I would be afraid at a pickers sale something valuable would get broken...but I would go at least once for the experience.
How is Sharon doing?
hugs

You got some amazing treasures! I got out early on Saturday for an estate sale, but it was a bust - nothing vintage, and everything was well used! No treasures there, but I made up for it at some yard sales later on! Great finds, Becky G.

Have a great week.

Deb, I SOOOOOOO love that mirror. We have these sales here, also. And, yes, they have to be hoarders for the stuff we've dug thru.

You did good, bet you are tiredm, but happy.

Diggers sale is a good one! I'll keep my eyes open. Have you been to http://www.YardGopher.com ? It’s my favorite garage sale site because you can post or search photos and descriptions of everything for sale at local yard sales... it helps find the best garage sales before you head out.
