Spring Mantle & One Day Job

Loving my "faux" peonies on my spring mantle

Here is a full view of my mantle. Good news, I'm using the old format until they change it on me.

Remember my "new job" that I started last Tuesday??? I met my supervisor at a local grocery store for my training...and it involved a "little more" than I was told. We worked for 6 hours without a break or lunch. I would have brought something to eat in between the stores as we went to on the way home, feeling sick to my stomach, headache and ready to cry..decided it wasn't the job for me. Talked to hubby about it and later that day called my boss and said the job isn't for me. I'm sure she wasn't happy...however, MN is a "at will" employment on either side. I have NEVER started a job and quit the same day.

It's been busy around here with daughter and future SIL painting at their new house and then last weekend, moving. They are pretty settled in and loving their home. Grand daughter is very happy with her room. I bought her a hamster on Tuesday. It's pretty cute. One red eye and one brown eye. She named her " ruby"! Cute!

At Auntie M's, you can rent a front window. So, May is my month. I'm having a "white" theme and have been gathering lots of white treasures for the window. Looking forward to that and will take photos to show you.

I'm going to visit you guys as I've haven't been around in awhile..sorry about that!

Sorry the job didn't work out like you had hoped it would. But your decision sounds like it was the best thing for you. Your window sounds like it will be really pretty. I can't wait to see pictures.

Lovely spring mantel you put together, I especially like those frames:-)
Sorry to hear about the job not working out, but better to leave now than to invest too much time in it.
Have a great weekend:-)

Great mantle. sorry about the job. Many years ago I got a job at a florist when we lived in Quebec. I spent my first day cleaning and dusting the whole space. When the other employees would taker breaks they would sit and smoke. The smoking laws didn't exist back then. I was so ill when I got home that i called and quit. Never even got paid for that day. There are better things out there.

Deb, your mantle is just marvelous! I love the elegant touches you add to your setups.

Sorry the job didn't work out. It wasn't meant for you then. The right thing will come along in time.

Anxious to soon show you how much you inspired me in our newly decorated bedroom. TYSM

Have a great weekend, my friend ~

Hi Deb..

Sorry to hear that your new job didn't work out like you had hoped for. Don't feel bad about quitting so quickly like you did either. Its not worth making yourself miserable working a job you find out you don't like, espeically if you're not totally depending on the income from it to survive.

Your Spring mantle looks great by the way. I love the colors you've used. It has that pretty "Cottage Style" look that I'm still in love with even after all these years and even after its pretty much gone out of style again. Not for me though :) I don't think I'll ever tire of it.

Take care..

Sorry about the job working out but better quit now than dragging it out and hating it all along the way. Maybe something else will come up. Your mantle looks beautiful Deb.

I agree with all the comments about the job...better to leave now ....but you were entitled to a break....just say "I'm going to go sit down for a few minutes...

Love your mantle. My favorite one was the Christmas one with the hankies. I "pinned" that one

Can't wait to see pictures of your window. Sorry the job didn't work out. Your decision to quit sounds like it was the best thing. I have 2 kitties that would love to play with a hamster. Ruby is a perfect name. Josie's favorite cartoon is about two bunnies named "Max and Ruby".

Deb, you must have hated the job! It is not like they invested a lot of time and money, so they couldn't be to upset. So glad you daughter is settled, and oh yes I remember the rodent deal with with your granddaughter. I have the big Fancy Flea this weekend. so I will report back, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The mantle looks great, Deb! I have to say that I am proud of you for quitting right off the bat. Better now than 6 weeks of hating-your-job down the road.

Hi Deb, Happy Belated Birthday.
Love your mantle. Just looks so yummy. Sorry your job did not work out. This happened to me many years ago too and I knew after the 8 hour day, it was not for me so I had to make that call. In the end, it was the right thing to do and I am sure for you as well.

Have fun with your window spot. It will be wonderful in white. Best wishes to your kids with their new home and painting.

Have a nice weekend,
Celestina Marie XOXO

I've started and quit a job twice in one day before. Both were before I had children and both were because the people/women at the desk next to me were chain smokers. I couldn't handle it. :(

Sorry about the job...but~in the end you must do what's best for you!

I got a little chuckle out of your job situation. Good for you. there are other jobs out there. no sense being unhappy if you dont have to be!
I'm looking forward to bringing im armloads full of peonies.. but maybe the fake ones (which are just as pretty) would be the way to go.. minus the ants!
have a great day!
