WHAT were we THINKING...

Sweet little elf on the shelf :) This is a crystal bowl of shinny things...

Okay...this is "my version" of what happened......Hubby was at the antique store a couple of weeks ago and this sweet couple came up to him and asked him if he bought things from private parties....YES....so we went to their home and they had this "Coke Collection"....which we weren't really interested in. We did buy a few smaller items and they said the WHOLE collection was a certain price...

hummmmmmmmmmm...............only that much...not a bad price.............hummm.............

for ALL of this......hummmmm.........SO WE BOUGHT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE don't collect coke items and really don't know about collecting newer items....

It was just too much of a "good deal" (WE HOPE) to pass up....so all that you see in the above pictures are now in our house and we are pricing them and will bring it out on Friday to the antique store and HOPE that it all sells...

See the sweet old table and chairs in the photo above is now in our family room. I have a THING for table and chairs...just ask hubby...of course when my taste changes, we can sell it.

The sad part of this story is the couple who are in their 70's we think, can no longer stay in their wonderful home that they built a few years ago. It was the home they wanted to stay in until they died...now they have to sell it and much of their lovely things. We also bought vintage children book, marbles, postcards, old high chair, wooden shoe forms and a few other things. They have a china cabinet that we would LOVE to purchase...at this time it's more than we are willing to pay. We have NEVER seen one like it. I wish I had taken a photo of it. It has a carved Indian head on it.

Okay....the weekend will be: Friday bring things out to the antique store, Sat from 9-1 work at HQ then off to see Kailee's cheer leading program, Sunday usher at church...then next week ME time...ha ha...finish shopping, mail greeting cards...you know...BAKING...and whatever else I want to do. Bible studies are done until next year so that give me 2 free mornings.

We have snow and it's very pretty...and it's COLD....so I'm staying in until I have to get Kailee from school this afternoon.

I know it's only Thursday...but I'm wishing you a ...

A Little More Christmas Decor and Swap gifts

J O Y Is my favorite word and more so at Christmas!!! Last year I bought these letters from Brook at The Home That Love Built. She made them and also TEA that is in my china cabinet.

Old picture of us "girls" on Santa's lap. My baby sister made this ornament one year for us. I think it's very special.

Sharon at http://myvintagestudio.blogspot.com and I did a one on one swap. She makes many lovely altered paper crafts. She was very generous and sent all of these goodies!!!

She made the lovely altered cabinet card and Christmas tags. She sent many things that I can also create with, along with postcards, awesome house pot holder, Godiva Chocolate...YES it's all gone!!!

I went to HQ today to get my room ready and the camera's battery was dead...however I will go out Wednesday and bring out the poinsettias' that I'm going to sell and take a couple pics then.

I'm trying to enjoy the season and I hope you are too. Let's slow down and not worry if things don't get done. Let's take one day at a time.

Guess we are going to get some snow tomorrow afternoon. The first snow is so pretty...however us "Minnesotans forget how to drive in the snow"!!!!

A Bit More of Christmas ...

Here is my humble Christmas tree with the vintage ornaments on it along with poinsettias and white lights. The needlepoint Santa is also from my friend Carol...

Simple mantle. I've had these swans for years and this is their year for Christmas.
I'm thinking I should have taller candle stick holders on the left side of the mantle. I'll be checking out the thrift store.

I was in the Altered Christmas Cabinet card swap and my package came in this darling tin. My swap partner was Linda at Lambsworld. She is very talented. Thank You Linda!!! Loving my new treasures!

She made the sweet tags and you can't go wrong with Hankies and Button Cards!!! I found it very challenging to alter the cabinet card.

This is the cabinet card that I altered and sent to her.

I have a little more Christmas decor to share with you next week. I'm getting ready for the sale at HQ that starts on Thursday. Still need to get my room ready. Busy weekend ahead. I want to start my Christmas cards, wrap a few gifts and I have a cookie exchange to go to Monday evening. Fun, fun, fun.

Some of you gals know Kathy from Kat Collects. You can read her post. She is on my sidebar. She and her family need much prayer. Her husband is in the hospital with a serious infection that has left him unable to walk...at this time.... The doctors aren't sure if he will walk again. Please lift them up in prayer and ask God to completely heal her husband. God hears and answers! Thank you.

I am sorry that I'm not visiting as I would like to. After next weekend...I'm thinking time will be on my side...

We have a little snow. Not much to do about. It's getting cold here. I'm all bundled up! Hubby teases me because I wear so much inside. You would think with all my extra body weight, I wouldn't get so cold...

Looking Like Christmas

Here is what you see when you walk into the house. Doesn't the vintage pitcher look nice with a little Christmas decor?! The needlepoint Santa is a gift from my BFF, Carol who made it for me a few years ago. :) She also made me a small pillow and a picture of Santa. All needlepoint, made with love.

A few vintage Santa treasures on top of the china cabinet and priceless photos of visits with Santa!

Sweet gifts from Marydon's giveaway that I won. I won 2 of hers... Thank You Marydon!

A little before and after project that is out of order....I used vintage reflectors and silver balls to make a new decoration. I saw this in blogland and totally forgot who's idea it is. You can call me a copy-cat!!!

I did put the Christmas tree up and will show you that and the mantle decor later this week.

I didn't put up many decorations. How's your decorating coming along?

BUSY and Peeks of Vintage Christmas Decor

Some of my vintage Christmas treasures. The star is glass beads from Germany I think. I have 4 different ones and some garland. When I get out the rest of the decorations and I remember...I'll take a photo of them.

The sweet treasures about I won from Diane at Saturday Finds. Thank you Diane! The little treat cup I bought from her. She makes darling treasures.

These fall treasures I won from Debbie Kay at My Vintage Daydreams. Thank You Debbie. It was fun to have new fall treasures just in time for Thanksgiving.

Thank You Linda from Linda n Jake. I was 1 of 4 winners of her giveaway. Gifts from her recent vacation in Maui :) Yes..the candy is already gone. Between hubby and ME...sweets don't last long at this house!!!

I KNOW....I am just as surprised as you are that I won all these giveaways!!! I am very thankful for all the new treasures. :)

Before and after of a couple of pieces of small furniture for resell.

Wow..the week went by quickly and I did get a few projects done :) See the cards on the stand, they are for the card swap on Thursday. I made ATC cards for one swap, Christmas tags for another and an altered cabinet card for that swap, which I already sent out. BUSY, Busy, busy!!!

Today we went and cut our Christmas tree. I put up the lights tonight, white ones and will finish decorating tomorrow after I help decorate the church. Kailee is coming along and helping too!

We will be decorating the church after the last service. I'll try to remember to take my camera along and take photos.

Thanksgiving went well. 7 of us and 3 dogs. One of hubby's sons said he was coming and ended up a no show. I made the turkey, mashed potatoes, real gravy with Mom's help, corn, broccoli, cheesy potatoes, homemade cranberry relish and Mom made pumpkin and banana cream pies. Yummy!!!

I will also tell you that we did something very CRAZY and I'll share that with you later this week. I was caught up in the moment....stay tuned!!!

I went out Friday morning and did some shopping. Just picked up a few things and since I was out after 7:30 AM...I was in and out of the stores. Did anyone else do some shopping?

I still need to make a few Christmas cards, decorate, bake cookies for an exchange next week and finish up my shopping. How are you coming along?

The next sale at HQ starts the 10Th....so that means getting more things out to my space. The sales for November were nice!!! Of course that is Christmas money!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, Treasures and Winner

Wishing you ALL a Happy Thanksgiving. God has indeed blessed us all.

This pitcher and bowl I picked up 2nd day of an estate sale and paid 17.50 for it. Hubby looked up the marking on the bottom and found out it was made between 1852-1883....It's a Real Antique!!! Who Knew!!?? I'm pleased as punch and it's a keeper...for now. Hubby also looked on eBay for one like it and found one without the bowl...asking price 100.00...not bad!

The picture above and below are the finds from Friday and Saturday.I also bought a couple of small furniture pieces that I'm painting. I'll show the before and after soon. The toothpick holder is just like the one my Grandma had. The yellow bird is a flower frog! I just read about flower frogs in a magazine and ones like the bird are more unique.

I would LOVE to give you ALL a treasure because you are all little treasures to me! I am Thankful for my Blogging Gals. Altered Tags, Thrift Treasures and ???

The "family" ATC went out to the ATC swap that I'm in...sorry if I posted before you rec'd yours. You can see the theme is "family" and I had the hardest time getting an idea for them.

The tag above is for the other ATC/tag swap that I'm in and I made 2 different ones and this is the only one left for me...

These darling tags are from Elizabeth at Creative Breathing. We did a one on one tag swap and she sent me 2 tags. The backs are also sweet. She makes wonderful paper treasures. Thank You Elizabeth!!!

Went to the thrift store today and found a few treasures. The poinsettia napkins are for Christmas morning brunch. I have 8 napkins for 4.58. Can't beat that price. I have a vintage poinsettia table cloth and think these will be great. The blue plate is for my collection and the pillows may stay as they would look nice on my green sofa. I love kitchen towels...I know a little weird. This one with blue flowers and red cherries is so sweet.

This very sweet set of blue and yellow napkins and place mats look and feel new and it's a set of 6 for 5.99...another great price. I told Kailee that I was going to sell them and she said" NO, let's keep them :) " She is learning :)

Hummm.........what are these 2 little items....I'm having a little giveaway and see the box by them...well...I'm packing that little box with little Christmas gifts. Tiny treasures from Me to One of You!!! Just leave me a comment on this post and I'll draw a name Sunday evening. I'll send to USA and Canada friends. Just a little something for Christmas Cheer. Just a couple of "finds" this weekend treasure hunting. These were 2nd day and 1/2 off :) The fruit on the left is a wall pocket.

I won a giveaway that Marydon at Blushing Roses had. That is a blessing :) It's a Tea theme along with a book about decorating small space. I have a new tea cup and saucer, tea warmer, teas and pretty candle rings. THANK YOU, Marydon :) She is having more giveaways!!!

Thrift Store Finds, JOY and More...

Thrift store finds...for resale...

More thrift store finds to sell...the set of 4 napkins with pretty napkin rings were only 3.99 for the set!!! DEAL!!! I need to find some for myself.

This tag is for Elizabeth at Creative Breathing. We are doing a one to one tag swap. I am showing you the one I made for her...she should have hers by the time this is posted...otherwise SURPRISE!!!

When I was at the thrift store on Tuesday, I was there for 3 hours!!!. I love buying books there. They are so cheap!! I try to find decorating ones that I don't have to add to my collection. I could probably spend more time there as they are always stocking the shelves.

Update from Monday...teacher's helper: I checked their homework papers, made sure that there were 20 pennies in old film canisters. Not exactly what I was thinking I would be doing.

Now I'm busy getting things marked for the sale next week at HQ...LOTS of treasures to get ready and then to make my space look very inviting :) I was there today and it's looking like CHRISTMAS!!!

Inside Grandma's China Cabinet & More

I found the perfect place for my "Ladies"...in the living room above this sweet little desk. This was my Grandmas china cabinet on my dad's side. Mom gave it to me after we moved in this house. I love the curved glass and the wood shelves.

On the top shelf are two plates that my mom gave me when I had my children. The one in the middle is when daughter was born in 1982 and the blue one on the right when my son was born in 1979. The blue plate on the left is a Jack Russell that hubby bought for me when we went to San Francisco a few years ago. Also on the shelf are my kids hand prints that I did when they were very young. They are my most valued treasure in the cabinet :)

The next shelf has most of the chintz that I have collected over the years. Some were bought at estate sales and one set on with the butter dish, S&P on the tray, hubby bought for me at an auction.

The TEA letters I bought from Brook at The Home That Love Built. She also made the JOY letters that you will see on the bottom shelf. The roses that you see were made by Lorena at Rose Chic Friends. She still makes them for you to purchase.

Along with the chintz, I have a few "Shelley" C&S, which are very collectible.

This is the bottom shelf with some of treasures that friends have given me, each with their special meaning.

Some pretty pink Fenton pieces and some Roseville, Hull and Red Wing pieces.

The dried flower bouquet is my wedding bouquet and it's 19 years old. I just can't throw it away.

This is my center piece for now. The cream quilt piece is from my baby sister who made it just for me. She even added the button and doilies to make it mine! She is very talented. You should see the scrapbook's she has made. Awesome!

Tomorrow I am going to "school" and be a teacher's helper in Kailee room. Not sure what I'll be doing and it is just for 1 hour and 15 minutes...you would think the teacher would want the "helper" for a couple of hours...

The weather was wonderful this weekend. The yard work is all done and I trimmed back the rose bushes. Hubby checked out the snow blower, so we are ready for winter.

Turkey Decor and More

I'm doing easy and simple for my Thanksgiving Decor...plus I don't have much and I decorate for Christmas right after Thanksgiving day.Bow window in the dining area, above and fireplace mantle below. I altered the banner on the mirror.

I took this picture today of JB...he has his perch on top of an old chest with his dog bed, looking outside and enjoying the view.

I know the "chamber pot" is a little chippy, missing it's handles...it still had to come home with me and live in my bathroom. See the picture below...her name is "Betty" and she will find a new home next to the other new ones in the living room. Don't you love old sheet music. The little needlework pieces are "rugs" that the older lady made for her doll houses. These were extra ones that had to come home too! See the old cow bell? I would LOVE to have a collar of old cow bells. They are SO expensive...

The estate sale is all over and not all the items were sold. I'm not sure what will happen to the left overs.

Now...I can think about getting ready for the sale at HQ which is on the 19th...and it's a Christmas theme. I have a few totes of Christmas items to mark. I am so in the mood to craft and hope to do some this weekend. No estate sales for us this weekend. Gotta get the house in order, rake up leaves and a few more projects.

My Dad Made an Airplane & Treasures

My Dad made this airplane when I was in grade school. It's a "Fly Baby" and he made it in the basement of our house. My Dad passed away 12 years ago. He was a very talented man. It's too bad that the airplane is a one seater...we never got to fly in it. The plane is still around and in another state. Just a little something I've been meaning to share for awhile. :)

Treasures from the estate house. The bottle on the right is a deep purple and the little shaker on the left is a pretty blue.

Very old mason jars. I have seen a square one and now it's mine. The one on the right is dated. I just had to buy 1 of her oil lamps. Love the little foot stool and it's needlework. I don't know if the lady of the house did the needlework...I'm guessing she did.

The sale went well today. MANY item were sold. Tomorrow is 1/2 to 1/3 off and I expect that the house will empty out. We are also doing 5.00 bag sale with the stuff on the back porch. They can fill the back with stuff for 5.00...

I'm off to watch some TV and then to bed. It's the night where we set back out clocks...so I get 1 hour of "extra" sleep.

I will have more treasures to show you later in the week...

It's Almost Ready..The Estate House!!!

Hello blogging friends. I must say...this estate house has kept me busy...I've put in 58 hours and will work again on Friday and then the sale that is Saturday and Sunday, plus the clean-up after the sale. I am very Thankful as the money earned will go for Christmas. With the real estate market still "not so good".... Christmas will be taken care of. God Provides!!!

Treasures and Wedding Photos

Hi Friends....Isn't this picture wonderful...it's from the estate house and just had to come home with us. Hubby helps out at the estate house too. It's called "Honeymoon in the Alps"...

A few more items...love the little metal shoe form...it's child size. There is a whole set for sale and this one is an extra. Lots of doilies for sale. Sweet Christmas song booklet.

Amber and Kailee...it was pretty cold for outside photos...and Kailee had this pose for most of the pictures. The dress Kailee is wearing...is not the thrift store one I bought...Dear Daughter found this one for Kailee... I know I'm the Mom...I feel that my "girls" look beautiful :)

This is at the reception and I thought I should have a "family" photo and will use this one for Christmas cards. Hubby, Me, handsome Son, Beautiful Daughter and Granddaughter and "future"(?) son in law/Kailee's daddy...

Today at the estate house...we were expecting a couple of "friends of the family" to shop...well EIGHT people showed up.....are you kidding me....and of course not everything is PRICED....just a tad stressful...and they wanted a few things that weren't marked...NO MORE PRE-SALES!!! is what the "seller" will be told....

All my spare time will be at the estate house...the sale is Saturday...so...you may not here from me for a week...Maybe....

I'm hoping the sales will be better this month...need some Christmas money :)

This is going to be another fast week....daughter and Grand daughter are in a wedding on Saturday :) I'll be sure to take some pics :) My hours at HQ were changed so that I wouldn't miss the wedding.

Today it has felt like FALL...sunny skies and temps a little more "normal".

Last week I was at the estate house 4 days. Hubby went with on Saturday and cleaned out the garage. It wasn't too bad. 3 rooms are already, garage just needs a price list, so that leaves the main floor to price. Pricing is the toughest part. You want people to buy the things, but you can't give them away and the owner has "prices" in mind...

Sorry that I'm jumping all over with my thoughts...I just don't want to forget anything!!!

A Couple More Pics and This and That

Let sleeping dogs lie....

These items are at the estate sale and we still need to price them...

and so are these lamps, shades and things.... On a good note...1 room is all priced!!!! Hurray!!!

These are the Tags I made to swap with a few blog gals. The theme: CAT...and I made mine with black glitter.

Today at the estate house, took a peek in the garage...hubby will have to come over and price the "man" stuff....

The daughter of the house came over today and I think she is overwhelmed...she goes from one room to another (so do I) and finds things from her childhood :) She was telling me that many years ago the house had an "outhouse" in the back yard and someone came to the house and wanted to dig where the outhouse was...because...in the "olden" days...folks would throw bottles and such into the holes....well...this person dug up a bunch of bottles that were in the garage...and they are awesome...I haven't looked at all of them. Just one treasure after another at this house.

I was thinking we would have the house ready for the sale by Sunday...Hold that thought :) This is the first time I have helped get a home ready for an estate sale. I'm still loving it.

It's very COLD here...only 39 today...burrrrrrrrrr and heard it may get into the 60's by the weekend...I want Fall to come back!!!

Photos of the Estate Sale I'm Working At

Let's start with one of the doll houses. It's a large, 3 story. The owner of the house made at least 3 doll houses that will be for sale. It really is amazing how detailed this one is....let's take a peek inside...

The house also lights up. I love it. Let's have tea in the parlor and listen as the hostess plays the piano. WOW...I can see how fun and expensive this hobby could be.

There is a Jenny Lind double bed for sale...and 3 awesome dressers. A couple with marble like the one above. Today we had to get into the attic and a vintage light was pulled out. It's awesome..

It's looking a lot better at the estate house. We were very productive today. I'm thinking it that we should be ready by the end of the week...

Okay...icky part so far...old bed linens that "reeked"...almost threw up because the smell was so bad...off to the garage they went. I can handle the ashes...smells ...not so much!!!

I hope you enjoyed the peak inside the estate house. I'm still loving getting it ready for the sale.

Hope you weekend is going well. Tomorrow I'm ushering at church and later we are going to bring the Hoosier hubby bought out to the antique store.

Just A Quick "HI"!!

Just a quick "HI".... it "snowed" last night...just a light covering...ACK....I'm not a Winter Girl!!!

Jackson Brown doesn't like his sweater...he just sat still for the longest time after I put it on him :)

I'm heading back to the estate house..it's coming along...and guess what...there is heat in the house!!

ESTATE SALE.....

I am helping a gal get a house ready for an estate sale at the end of the month...and let me tell you it's GREAT!!! I am so LOVING IT!!!

It's an old house not too far from me and the lady of the house is 90 and is living elsewhere. She LOVED Victorian things. Furniture, doll, lace, dishes, lamps, ....and one of her hobbies was making doll houses...they are WONDERFUL...and doll houses aren't my thing...these are so detailed...I hope to show you them soon.

Yesterday I was at the house and we were going through the 3 bedrooms. On one of the beds was a wooden box. I opened the box...SURPRIZE...it was the Mister's ashes...and then we opened a small box that was wrapped in Christmas paper...another SURPRIZE...the little doggies ashes...We had ourselves a good laugh. Of course there are the dead mice and spiders that have made their homes in the house.

It is so amazing what people keep...(guilty here too) and then when a stranger goes through your stuff...well...one could write a book.

I am able to pick treasures out before the sale...score!!! I wish Victorian was my style...there is a wonderful animal head carved settee and matching chair, a lovely china cabinet with dog heads carved on top of that. I may purchase an old oil lamp and maybe a few pieces of china. I'll ask to take pictures when I go back on Friday to help set up. The photo above is what I have chosen, so far...too cute Victorian child's shoes and the print. Isn't she pretty :)

It's rather cold in the house. No water, working toilet or heat. There is electricity :) Who knows maybe this is my calling...doing estate sales?!!! I "work" there a couple afternoons and think I'll be working this weekend. I also have to get my stuff ready for the sale at HQ.

BUSY...BUSY...BUSY!!!

Fall Swap Treasures and More Decor

I received my Fall Swap package from my partner, Fran at http://thebagglady.blogspot.com and she was very generous :) It felt like Christmas...let's see what she sent...

Had some time this weekend as it was cold and rainy...so I put up my little Halloween decor. It's the same items from last year...just put up in a new way...I hope!!!

The pumpkin on the middle candle holder is vintage and is my favorite thing along with the little tin on the left candle holder. Halloween decor is SO expensive and it so hard to find.

I didn't go to any estate sales this weekend. Tomorrow I am going to help a gal go through a home that will be having an estate sale at the end of the month. I offered to help price items and help with the sale :) I can't wait to see what's in the house...maybe she'll let me take photos!!

The furnace is ON...just had to as being cold in the house is silly. We are on the "budget" plan and have a nice credit and "they" say the gas prices won't be as high as last year..

The leaves are really turning and when the sun comes out again I hope to take some photos. They are so beautiful...God is an great artist :)

I hope to put more items on our selling blog this week...

Pumpkins are ready and Halloween cards

Did you see my new banner...it was from last year :) Tonight is my card swap and these are mine. Isn't she the cutest :) Inside is says "Happy Halloween"...

These are the pumpkins that Kailee and I grew. There is a white one still growing outside. It's very small and we are going to let it grow for awhile before we pick it.

My computer/phone line wasn't working the past few days...so that is why I haven't been around to visit you. It would connect then disconnect...ACK...however the phone company was out today and fixed it...Hurray!!!

Just want to say HI!!! and now off to visit you all!!

A Book, a Tassel and Treasures

I have talked about Lorena from Rose Chic Friends before. She makes these AWESOME tassels. This one is a gift...unless I decide to keep it...at this rate...I won't have any tassels to give. She will do special orders too! LOVE IT!!!

Treasures from the weekend. Of course I HAD a little time to find treasures before I worked my shift at HQ. Business was slow. It rained on Friday and that really cut into the sales.

Do you see the "deco" type tin...hubby looked it up and it's from the 1920's. SWEET...may have to keep that one.

Here are some pics of my space for this month...the sale started Thursday..

it was raining today and that may hurt the sales for the weekend...

Before...decided to make a little project with this frame. I know..she is sweet...however I'm showing some gals at church before and after with spray paint...and this is the perfect size.

After with a little stamping and embellishments.

All of the above are from a couple of weeks ago. The sheet sets were like new and cheap. I really needed some new sheets and if you WAIT long enough, you will find them at estate sales. Also see the sweet little chintz bowl. Another piece for my collection.

These are my ATC cards that I made for one of the ATC swaps that I belong to. I've sent them out and have received a couple back. When I get all them, I'll show them to you. The theme:

I have been renting at HQ for a year now. Time really flys. I sure enjoy this new hobby of mine.

There are 2 sales in the neighborhood that we will go to before I work at HQ tomorrow afternoon.

It rained today and we sure needed each and every drop. Had a yummy spinach and mushroom deep dish pizza for dinner..it's my favorite kind.

Just a quick post to let you all know that Mom's surgery went perfect and she came home today...but first went out to lunch and to HQ to see my space...my baby sister drove her and our Auntie around.
